Police seized my car. What next?

The Police will have completed a form called a section 165 form telling you why they seized the vehicle and where it is being taken.

The vehicle will be taken to the nearest compound for storage.

You must then take your copy of the section 165 form to a Police Station of your choice with the relevant paperwork required (i.e. insurance or driving licence). The Police Station when satisfied that your documents are in order will stamp your section 165 form.

You then take the stamped section 165 form, proof of I.D. and the release fee's to the recovery agent. If the recovery agent is satisfied that you are the person entitled to the vehicle (The person named on the section 165 form) the vehicle will be released.
