WH Tours wins Olympic Games 2012 contract
The London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games (LOCOG) has advanced its plans for transporting athletes, team officials, technical officials and the media during the London 2012 Games with confirmation of its bus and coach providers.
Following a competitive tender process, LOCOG has appointed WH Tours as one of forty four contractors from all over the UK and Ireland who will provide over 1,250 coaches and buses together with drivers which will be used at all London 2012 venues across the UK.
LOCOG Commercial Director Chris Townsend commented, “This is the culmination of a significant and complex piece of procurement work and we had a very competitive tender process. What we’ve ended up with are companies from every nation and region providing some buses or coaches – from the traditional family owned small companies to the large national bus firms – all coming together to help us make London 2012 as successful as possible.”
WH Tours Managing Director George Heron commented “This opportunity has arisen from a lot of hard work from our sales and operational teams. I am proud we are a part of the 2012 Olympics and of their achievements to get us there.
